Your Picnic Blanket Jewellery collection is something to be cherished and well taken care of. So we’re here to help tell you how you can do just that!
So how exactly should I care for my PB jewellery?
Avoid contact with extreme heat, air and excess moisture - these things may lead to rapid oxidation and tarnishing of the metal elements of your jewellery. The best ways you can prevent this from happening is to keep your jewellery safe in a cool, dry, dark place.
Avoid exposure to cosmetics such as body lotions, moisturisers, perfumes, sprays, chlorine, soaps and other cosmetic chemicals. As these things may cause your jewellery to tarnish more easily. You can further protect your jewellery by removing it before exercising, showering, swimming, washing hands, and going to bed.
Gold especially can be discoloured and even permanently damaged if exposed to chlorine, so please make sure to remove your jewellery before going for a dip in the pool.
Soapy water can leave a thin layer of residue on your jewels that will dullen the precious metals. We expressly recommend that you do not bathe or shower while wearing your precious Picnic Blanket jewellery.
You can prevent scratches and tangles in your pieces by storing each item individually and in its original packaging. Our gift boxes and pouches are perfect for this!
And how can I clean my jewellery?
You are able to maintain the original shine of your pieces by occasionally polishing your jewellery with a soft cloth. Be sure to be very gentle, and don't rub too hard!
If you notice a little bit of oxidation between the beads in your necklace or bracelet don't worry, this is totally normal and can be cleaned up with a gentle cloth!
Do some materials require extra care?
Yes, that's exactly right!
You may have noticed that we use lots of glass beads in many of our jewellery pieces! These often include intricately crafted Lampwork beads made in our studio. Your jewellery should therefore be handled gently, and with the utmost care and affection.
Avoid dropping your jewellery on hard surfaces or wearing with anything else that could snag or clash with it. The glass on your jewellery can be cleaned with a lightly-damp cloth or polished using a soft cloth.
What about pearls? The pearls in your jewellery will love you as much as you love them if you take care of them! Your own natural oils will keep them moisturised and lustrous.
However, be sure to avoid any contact with chemicals, lotions, and perfumes.
Store in a well-ventilated environment and gently polish them with a soft cloth to remove any debris and restore shine.
